Don't just sit there. Start COLD ROLLING!
I have been OBSESSED with my cold roller for quite awhile now and I always get tons of questions about what this magic is so I figured it was time to do a little beauty Q + A about one of my favorite must have beauty tools.
FIRST, what the heck is a cold roller?
A colder roller is a stainless steel roller that you use to roll over your skin. Pretty basic right? There are a few different styles of cold rollers or ice rollers but I personally prefer the stainless steel because you can easily clean it and it gets super cold when you put it in the fridge or freezer. This is an awesome treatment for your skin that you can give yourself at home and it has a ton of benefits.
So, what are those benefits?
Depuffs the skin...especially around the eyes! If you are a mom like me I am sure you have been there. Your kids wouldn’t sleep all night and you have an early morning. You stumble around in the kitchen, get yourself a cup of coffee and then look in the mirror and see that your eyes are super crazy puffy. Cold roller to the rescue! Cold rollers are great at reducing puffiness and it feels so good and refreshing to start your day with a little pampering. Insider tip: throw on a little eye cream and cold roll over that. It’s going to help depuff the skin around your eyes and the eye cream will penetrate deeper into the skin.
Reduces inflammation of those pesky hormonal breakouts. Just like with a bee sting or a sprained ankle, cold compress is great at promoting healing. Use your cold roller to reduce the inflammation of a pesky hormonal breakout...it kinda freezes those zits in a way. The redness that you notice will not be as intense when you use your cold roller over the breakout but just make sure your cold roller is nice and clean so you’re not getting bacteria around that blemish.
Kids love a good cold rolling session when they don’t feel well because it’s the perfect fever killer. It’s also a really great tool to have for those occasional headaches or soothing your muscles after an intense workout.
Facial massage...aka DIY lymphatic drainage. We should be carving out time to get regular facials but sometimes that’s just not in the cards so instead I suggest meeting with your esthetician to learn about what home care is best for your skin type and then investing in a cold roller. By using proper home care that speaks to your skins specific needs you’re going to be benefiting your skin's overall health. And then to add in the use of a cold roller you will be getting some at home benefits of facial massage. Sure, it's going to be different than having someone physically touching your face but you will still be promoting some lymphatic drainage which will help encourage graceful aging and will reduce toxic buildup.
