Lashcation Guide- Part 1
We are a few weeks into self quarantining due to Covid-19 and by now your lashes are probably getting thin...or you're a #baldlashedbeauty. I know that the shedding process can been pretty difficult for some of you but allowing them to shed naturally is really the best option for your lash health. During this process please, please, please do your very best to avoid picking at your extensions. Brush them a little extra right now or maybe try a little coconut oil on them but don't pick at them.
Now with that being said, I do here by formally grant you permission to put mascara on the few remaining extensions you have left BUT ONLY IF you remove your mascara nightly. You have to commit to protecting your natural lash health. If you don't, then when this is all over, you wont have any healthy natural lashes to stick extensions onto.
So, what are some things you can do now to benefit your lashes while you are on your lashcation?
Keep your lash line clean!
I said this already but it's important enough to say twice. Make sure you are diligently washing your remaining extensions with your Lash Wash so you can avoid any buildup. Need I remind you about demodex mites?? Mascara is tricky to remove without extra tugging or pulling so think about adding a makeup remover into your nightly routine if you don't already have one already. I'll give you a few suggestions on that in part 2.
Give 'em a little TLC!
Hook those lashes up with a conditioning treatment!!
Grande Repair is a leave in lash conditioner that is designed to help protect, strengthen, and soften your lashes. This is something you wouldn't normally be able to treat your lashes to while wearing extensions so why not use this lashcation to really do something EXTRA!
This conditioner is infused with a biotin peptide which is going to help protect against lash fallout and breakage...which you might notice more of because you're wearing mascara. Mascara is harsh and drying to your natural lashes so conditioning them is going to really help them to stay healthy and beautiful. You can purchase GrandeRepair here.
Feed your lashes a vitamin!
Now is the perfect time to work on giving your lashes some attention that will help them look and feel stronger and longer. I do believe serums are beneficial but what we take in internally can be so beneficial too!
Obviously, I am a lash artist and not a doctor so you do want to confirm with you doctor that your existing medical condition approves of you taking this vitamin first.
So, vitamin wise, lashes can reap some big benefit from horsetail.
Horsetail has been around since the Greeks and Romans. A key component of horsetail is SILICA. Horsetail is loaded with silica and silica is a compound that strengthens hair (and lashes). Horsetail is also an antioxidant which means it improves circulation. Do you see where I am going with this?? By taking a horsetail supplement you're giving your lashes what they need to have better internal circulation, which can help promote growth, and you're also giving your lashes what they need to grow stronger. It's kinda a no brainer now right? Horsetail is such a good vitamin to promote healthy lashes.
Next lashcation tip. Eat more bell peppers. Bell peppers are loaded with vitamin C! Don't believe me? Google it. They have more vitamin C than oranges. We could all use extra vitamin c right now because we want to keep ourselves healthy and avoid the Corona. Vitamin C is also what fuels our body's internal collagen production. Collagen is really popular right now because of products like Vital Proteins but you can get Vitamin C without going out and buying an additional product. Collagen is most popularly known to keep our skin youthful but it also is important for our hair because it keeps the follicles healthy and secured to our bodies.
Last little lashcation tip...for now. AVOID WATERPROOF MASCARA! Use whatever brand of mascara you would like but avoid waterproof! That stuff is not only going to be extra annoying to remove....its also going to dry out your lashes causing them to be brittle and break. My tip for mascara is to invest in one that you can use even after you get your extensions back on. What I mean is finding an extension friendly mascara like the HD Mascara from Lash Affair. This mascara is water-based which means it removes very easily but for being water-based its pretty good at not giving you a raccoon look at the end of the day.
The reason I suggest investing in an extension friendly mascara is so you can use this on your bottom lashes without it blink transferring to you extensions and damaging them.
I'll be back with more Lashcation Tips in Part 2! If these tips were helpful let me know below in the comments and please stay safe out there!
